Never Give Up Hope.

I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday and I saw this. The sentiments pulled me in fast. Short, simple and to the point and all in a nice little 4 x 6 frame.

I have been a quotes girl all of my life. Quotes, poems, any form of the written word really. I have quite a collection and even had a blog for them at one point. (Shocking I know). I have a few pages from my 1995 Day Runner planner that had quotes taped in. In other words, I don’t like to give them up. Maybe one could call me a “quote collector”. Yes, that one works for me. (Kim Funk: wife, mom, writer, quote collector, etc.).

Getting back to the story…

As previously stated, I walked into Hobby Lobby, saw that sweet framed wood piece and it stopped me in my tracks. I don’t normally take pictures in stores, but I had to grab a quick picture because I wanted to share it with a friend.

I have a friend who is going through something with one of her teenage children and wanted to share it with her. But then I remembered another friend who is going through something with her adult son… and yet another is dealing with her mom’s dementia. We all go through “big things” at different times in our lives.

Maybe you know someone who needs a little “TLC”

Quotes won’t solve any of these serious issues, but for me, quotes help – even if just for a moment. Sharing a quote lets one know you are thinking of them, that you have compassion for their situation and that you care. Sometimes it can help the receiver to take a deep breath for just a moment and relax. In addition, maybe that brief moment will allow her (or him) to reassess the situation… (even if it is only reassessing how they are “dealing” with the current challenge of the day). Perhaps in that moment they will even allow themselves to acknowledge that they are doing the best they can. (Life is hard and calm resolution is not always immediate).

With that in mind, I decided to collect my ten favorite quotes on “hope” and turn them each into graphic images.
