A great podcast for work-life balance!
Julie Stoian is a force to be reckoned with.
I discovered Julie quite accidentally while checking out a program I’ve been considering for business. She was not only listed as a “success story” for the company but is now Executive Partner and Vice President of Marketing! Have you ever heard of a “little” company called ClickFunnels? (Yes, THAT company). In addition, Julie is a mom, an owner of her own company, a digital marketing expert and coach, and, a multi-seven
Create Your Laptop Life Podcast
If you’re not someone working from home, you might not think you’ll identify with Julie’s podcast, but you will! “Create Your Laptop Life” is a fantastic podcast full of “aha” moments on life. Julie is honest and raw, and loves to share tips and information on how to live the “laptop life”. Many of the tools, however, are complete
Episode 32 – Great “Aha” Moments
My current favorite episode, episode 32, is titled, “Sacred Time + 100/50/10 System”. In this episode, Julie reflects back to her time as a young at-home-mom trying to get tasks completed while her children took their (short) naps. Most at-home-parents will shake their heads and smile at the notion of that visual. Completing a big to do list in the span of 90 minutes? (Is that physically possible?)
At that time in her life, Julie started breaking down her tasks using the 100/50/10 system. The goal was to determine what tasks needed her full (100%) attention, and which things could she accomplish with less. (You get the picture!)
She started really working on it and discovered a few interesting things (aha moments). When listening to the episode, this one spoke to me. She mentioned the task of working out first thing in the morning to start the day. If you are like many, this is your routine and has been for years. But, what if your only sacred time is early in the morning? (Sacred time is “quiet time” when you can focus 100% on something). Should you use your sacred time for working out? Does it need your full attention?
Determining “when” your sacred time is, and figuring out which tasks are true “100 tasks” can be eye-opening! I am an early riser and that is when my creativity is flowing and I’m ready to write. I can’t tell you how many times, however, that my husband and I have had the conversation about whether or not to work out first thing in the morning. Getting the workout done, getting cleaned up, and starting the day is his routine… but it’s not mine and after listening to this episode, it all made sense! We are all different and our sacred times and tasks are different as well.
Episode 32 was a great episode, and I chose to highlight it because I’ve been writing a lot lately about work-life balance, but I like them all! One thing I enjoy about the Create Your Laptop Life podcast is that most of them are about 15 minutes long or less. This means I can grab a listen during a short drive, or while making breakfast, doing dishes, or anytime I have a few minutes to spare. That works for me in a really big way. Sometimes I can grab two! This is a great podcast for people who have a few “free minutes” here and there. Podcasts can be paused, so listening to Julie does NOT have to be listed under your “100” tasks. (wink wink).
