I tried Amazon Audible for Free.
I tried Amazon Audible for Free and I love it!
I’m not sure when things changed for me. I used to love to read but I’ve found in recent times that I just can’t stay focused on a book for very long.
We all enjoy things differently and I LOVE to soak in information or take in a good story, but I am no longer a true reader. Maybe that will change when life settles down (joking). Life does have a fair amount of distractions these days!
That’s why I was so happy to find Amazon Audible. And that’s why I decided to give their Free Trial a “try”. I’m so glad I did!
I tried it, I liked it, Amazon Audible.
The first book I tried “listening” to was Marie Forleo’s, “Everything is Figureoutable“.
Everything is Figureoutable is a great book, and Marie Forleo’s personal narration was enjoyable. However, she gives her readers written challenges and exercises to complete so I found a physical copy to be a better option for that specific book and finished it up accordingly.
(I now have access to both versions of Marie’s book and love being able to refer to both).
The Money Tree via Audible was perfect.
Next up I tried another book on my list and was then sold on Amazon Audible.
The Money Tree, written by Chris Guillebeau, is all about creating one’s “financial destiny”. It’s written in a story format with great characters, and is an easy and enjoyable “listen”.
This book is full of great information and ideas, but unlike Everything is Figureoutable, there is no need for note-taking or written exercises. This makes Audible the perfect choice for this book.
I highly recommend The Money Tree for anyone who has considered entrepreneurship, side hustles, or who has seriously thought about generating an additional source of income. (A very timely subject right now).
Chris Guillebeau, the best selling author of The $100 Startup and Side Hustle, does a great job introducing the subjects of side hustles and passive monthly income. I loved the characters and loved the story. (I now want my “young adult” children to give it a “listen”!).
Audible Makes Reading Possible for Busy People
What I love about Audible is that it allows me to enjoy a good book without stopping what I’m doing. I know that may seem like an odd statement.
For many, books are enjoyed during a time of relaxation, and I love that idea! However for me right now, I don’t choose to take the time to sit down to read. (It just doesn’t work for me).
What I have done instead, is that I have enjoyed audiobooks while walking on the treadmill, making the bed, taking a bath, driving, etc.!
Audible has made “reading” a good book possible again for me and I am truly enjoying reading again. (It’s been a long time and I’ve missed it. Most of my reading in the last few years has been focused on expanding my blogging and online business skills ).
I like the fact that the description lists how many hours it will take to complete a book. The app also has options to speed the reading up a bit or slow it down based on the preferences of the listener. (I like that).
Currently in the Audible Queue: Brene Brown!
After I took part in the Amazon Audible Free Trial, I signed up for their monthly membership.
Little did I know Audible not only offers Audio “books” but also, movies, videos, and… prerecorded live events!
When looking up what Audible had to offer by Brene Brown, I came across “Rising Strong as a Spiritual Practice”, which was a recording of a speech she gave based on the book, “Rising Strong“.
The description listed the recording as a little over 3 hours long which I knew would be the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon while working on my “honey-do” list. (Check!).
The Audible edition even includes the Q and A session that took place at the end of the event she spoke at which was a fun bonus.
Good stuff and another PERFECT Amazon Audible option!
How to start your Free Amazon Audible Trial
To start your trial, simply click here: Try Amazon Audible for Free!
Once you begin your trial, you will be able to instantly enjoy Audible on your desktop or on your mobile device (simply install the Amazon Audible App to your phone).
Yay!
After 30 days, should you choose to continue your membership, you will be charged $14.95 per month. This will be good for one audiobook.
But there’s more! (Total TV salesperson – haha). Once a month you will receive an email list with new releases, and it’s not unusual for Amazon to send out offers for a 2 for the price of 1 deal, etc. which allow for more reading (listening) enjoyment!
(I guess you’ve figured me out… I love Audible!).
Amazon.com sells physical books too.
Amazon Audible may not be for everyone but it sure has been a great discovery for me. I am thoroughly enjoying reading again, which has been a true blessing.
But if you enjoy a physical book, or need a paper copy in order to use it as a true resource… Amazon still sells “real” books too. 🙂
Happy reading!
🙂 Kim
