New Year’s Resolutions: a Thing of the Past?
Choose one word for 2020. Can you do it?
When I was young, I loved New Year’s Resolutions! What a great way to start a new year, right? (Woohoo!).
I’d get out a yellow pad and some markers (for fun artwork along the side) and start my list.
However, many times those resolutions would somehow drift off to sea never to be heard from or revisited again. (Oopsie.)
I’ve gotta tell you, I never liked realizing I had failed at reaching my goals.
(So goodbye New Year’s Resolutions).

In the last few years, choosing “one little word” for the year has been a “thing”. I first saw it done by Ali Edwards, scrapbooking designer extraordinaire. (She is awesome).
I’ve seen others have fun with it in the years since as well, and I think it’s a great concept! Having one word to focus on instead of “resolutions” seems lighter and easier to work with. (Phew!).
However… I’m not much of a one-word person.
Have you ever been asked to fill out one of those “fun” quizzes that require a one-word answer?
I am NOT a good “one-word” fun quiz taker! Why? Well… I probably have more than one answer to share and I need room to explain my response!
(Writers are like that… we like to be descriptive).
But this is my life and my rules. So guess what?
I am choosing THREE words for my 2020 goals!
High Five!
Intention is my first (and MAIN) word for 2020!
Intention.
Last month I was taking part in a live conference call with fellow bloggers when the subject of prioritizing came up. There are so many things to do as a serious blogger and so many platforms to post on that time management is sometimes a puzzling task.
At one point, Heather, one of the moderators simply said, “You’ve got to follow the money.”
Wow. Lightbulb moment. She was telling us if our goal is to make money with our blogs, then we should be focused on the tasks that are going to generate the most income. Period.
But for me, this lightbulb moment wasn’t about money at all. The simple message was about living life with intention.
I knew right then, that my main “word” for 2020 was going to be “intention”. It covers “everything” in life and I just love it!!
Tomorrow I will share word #2, so stay tuned!
I have a feeling we are all going to have a great 2020!
Have a great day and Happy Almost New Year!
🙂 Kim
